Northwest Tech Held First Student Talent Show

Wednesday, December 7, 2011 Northwest Tech hosted its first on campus Talent Show. Students at Northwest Tech gathered in the Student Union for a night of great talent. Some of the acts included poetry reading, singing solos and duets; stand up comedy acts, theatrical performances and so much more.

Maverick Wrestlers Placed at UNK Loper Open

On Saturday, December 10, 2011 the Maverick Men’s Wrestling team took a road trip to Kearney, NE for an open tournament. Northwest Tech took 9 wrestlers, and 2 of our men placed 6th. 125, Miguel Guzman, from Lawrence, MA; 197, Dion Harris, from Ark, VA.

Northwest Tech’s Technical Veteran’s Association Organize Toys For Tots Drive

The Northwest Tech Technical Veteran’s Association (TVA) has started the year in full swing this year by electing officers, spear heading charities, and hosting receptions for Patriot’s Day & Veteran’s Day. This holiday season, the TVA will be starting up a Toys For Tots Drive, with 5 locations for drop-off boxes.

Northwest Tech Area Board of Control Approves Collegiate Basketball

At the regular November meeting, Northwest Tech’s Area Board of Control voted to begin men and women's basketball for the 2012-2013 school year. At this week’s USD 352 Board meeting, the board voted and agreed to join Northwest Tech in this new collaboration to bring collegiate level basketball to Goodland.

Diesel Department Receives NATEF Master Accreditation

On September 30, Northwest Tech’s Kansas Institute of Diesel TechnologySM program received the complete evaluation results from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF). All eight areas met the strict industry standards required for the NATEF Master Accreditation, which is the highest level of achievement recognized by this organization.

Northwest Tech Awarded Military Friendly School Status

G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded Northwest Kansas Technical College the designation of Military Friendly School. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.

The Northwest Tech Technical Veterans Association will be holding a memorial commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. The memorial will be held at the flagpole in front of the Derrick Lutters Armory Building in Goodland, KS beginning at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 11, 2011.

Northwest Tech Awarded $25,000 Grant for Job Creation

Northwest Tech partnered with First National Bank for a $25,000 Joint Opportunities for Building Success (JOBS) grant award from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Topeka. The purpose of the JOBS grant fund is to spur economic growth and job creation in member communities.
