Northwest Tech Students Advance in 2013 SkillUSA Competition

Numerous Northwest Tech students competed in the state SkillsUSA contest in Wichita, Kansas April 24-26. Students at Northwest Tech competed in the areas of Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration; Electrical, Communications Technology, Auto Service Technology, Diesel Technology, Carpentry, and Related Technical Math.

Northwest Tech Graduation Scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013

Northwest Tech is honoring 2012-2013 graduates an annual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 17, 2013. This year marks the 48th graduating class with approximately 140 students graduating from one of fifteen technical programs. Kansas Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer, M.D. is the keynote speaker for the event.

Northwest Tech Raises Awareness and Funding for MS Research

The Northwest Tech Cosmetology Department led a campus and community-wide effort to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and funding for researching the incurable disease. The MS Awareness activities are a part of this year’s department theme, “Give Back”.

The Dane G. Hansen Foundation awarded Northwest Kansas Technical College a $50,000 grant for the “Tools for Success” project. The project funds the purchase of three tool kits for each of the programs in the Transportation and Construction divisions.

On September 30, Northwest Tech’s Kansas Institute of Diesel TechnologySM program received the complete evaluation results from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF). All eight areas met the strict industry standards required for the NATEF Master Accreditation, which is the highest level of achievement recognized by this organization.
