Freshman Orientation

Freshman Orientation days are held in late spring and early summer and all enrolled freshman students are expected to attend one of the selected dates. Student Services representatives will be available and information will be provided to help students prepare for the first day of college classes.

During Freshman Orientation the students ordering tools through the college bookstore should be prepared to pay a $100 deposit on the tools they will need for their program of study. The estimated cost will be provided by the college prior to coming to Freshman Orientation. Students who have a special clothing requirement will also be asked to order and pay the appropriate clothing fee. The campus bookstore will provide a book list and students are asked to place an order with a $10 deposit for their books. The books will be paid for on the first day of school. Students will be provided information about eligibility for financial aid, registration, the technical certificate and the AAS degree, and on-campus housing.

Book Requirements
During orientation, students must order their books and supplies for the remainder of the year (this would include both first and second semester). A checklist for each program will be made available by the Bookstore, and will include estimated costs for each book or supply item per semester. Delivery of these books and supplies will occur when financial aid is dispersed and full payment has been made. A time will be scheduled for students enrolled in specific programs to pick up remaining books and supplies. Second semester books will be available for pick up prior to the start date of the second semester and payment for those books can be made at that time.

Tool Requirements
Students must purchase tools for their specific program of study. An estimated cost for the proposed tools is provided on the estimated cost sheet. The three mechanical programs of study; Auto Body Repair, Automotive Technology and Diesel Technology will purchase their tools directly from the tool supplier. A list of tools and tool suppliers will be provided or can be obtained from the college web site. A tool show will be held during the Freshman Orientation for the mechanical programs mentioned.

Other programs of study will be given the option to purchase the TOOL KIT from the college bookstore. If students wish to purchase the tool kits they must be ordered at Freshman Orientation and a $100 deposit will be due at that time. A list of tools included in the TOOL KIT and an estimated cost of the kit will be supplied at this time and are also available on the website. Tools are not sold individually. Additional TOOL KITS are NOT available to order or for sale during registration. TOOL KITS will be dispersed after full payment.

Students are encouraged to make arrangements to purchase tool kits as soon as possible because tools are used in the classroom during the first 30 days of class. ***SPECIAL NOTICE: TOOL KITS purchased from sources other than the bookstore MUST BE APPROVED BY THE INSTRUCTOR PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM START DATE .

A student who withdraws prior to the start date of the program has the option of purchasing the tool kit by paying the remaining balance.

All deposits are non-refundable.

Special Clothing
Students will order and pay for any special clothing that may require personalization.
