Make It Happen!
Northwest Tech Administration Building - 1209 Harrison, Goodland, KS

A Rich History at Northwest Tech

Northwest Tech has a rich history beginning in 1964 as the Northwest Kansas Vocational School. The school grew over the years from one building and 7 courses of study to a campus of over 20 buildings, 14 programs, and more than 40 on-line and evening classes.

We became Northwest Kansas Technical College in 2001 When all technical schools in Kansas were mandated to become technical colleges. Northwest Tech is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.

Cutting Edge Training

Northwest Tech offers cutting edge training: hybrid technology training in our Auto Technology program, biodiesel process training in the Kansas Institute of Diesel Technology, and “going green” with our “Green House” project completed by the Carpentry program in 2010.

iPad Initiative

Technology has changed more than our curriculum; it has changed the way we teach. In Fall 2010, Northwest Tech became the first two-year, post-secondary institution in the nation to implement an one-to-one iPad Initiative across campus.

The iPad Initiative connects students, instructors, and teaching materials. It has changed the way we teach, tutor, communicate, and even the way we handle snow days, which have been replaced with “E-Days.” Our goal is to connect a student’s mind with their hand and their heart, and the iPad helps make that goal a reality.

Athletics

Northwest Tech began offering collegiate athletics in Fall 2010, expanding its programs to include men and women's soccer, golf, rodeo, and wrestling.

We are proud to announce the addition of collegiate basketball to this lineup for Fall 2012! Read the press release >>

- Awarded military friendly status in 2011 by GIJobs.com

Our Future

Introduction of cutting edge technology is only the beginning; we have articulation agreements with outstanding colleges and universities. Northwest Tech continues to build on its history of excellence.
