COVID-19 Update: August 27, 2020

Northwest Tech was notified this morning that we have one individual on the Goodland campus who has tested positive for COVID-19. We are working with the Sherman County Health Department and are already conducting contact tracing to identify and contact individuals who have been in close proximity to the student. These individuals will be placed in quarantine as we follow health department protocols.

Social Distancing
Northwest Tech continues to follow the protocols and procedures as guided by our local health department. I would continue to urge you to practice social distancing, not only because it reduces transmission rates, but also because it reduces the number of individuals who will have to quarantine when a case develops

While we anticipated cases would develop during the school year, this serves as a reminder that the actions we take can have a direct impact on those around us. Avoid large social gatherings (ie parties), practice social distancing, wash your hands regularly, disinfect highly used surfaces often, and if you are sick - don't come to campus. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, contact the Sherman County Health Department at (785) 890-4888 and let your instructor know you are not feeling well and will not be in class.

Above all, stay diligent in your efforts and know that cases will develop this year - this will take efforts from all of us. Remain calm, steadfast, and resolute in doing your part to protect yourself and those around you. While there is an understandable initial shock for some at the development of the first case, we remain confident in our combined abilities to respond as the year continues forward.

Best regards,
Ben
